Participation in the 4th World Forum of LED

The 4th World Forum of Local Economic Development - Cabo Verde, 17 - 20 Oct

GSEF is participating in the 4th World Forum of Local Economic Development taking place in Praia, Cabo Verde from 17th to 20th of October. Throughout the forum, GSEF will engage in various advocacy activities to promote the SSE and localisation of SDGs as a leverage for inclusive urban development. Coordinated by the ILO (International Labour Organization), GSEF will present the ways of promoting SSE for local wellbeing and creation of decent work as well as on innovative ecosystems in two different thematic sessions on the 18th.

  1. Policy dialogue on the potential of SSE to reinvest value in local wellbeing and create decent work (11:15 ~ 13:00)
  2. Interactive panel on innovative ecosystems for SSE (16:15 ~ 18:00)

Also, preliminary research outcomes of the GSEF and UNRISD (United Nations Research Institute for Social Development)’s joint research project on the Seoul’s SSE project - localisation of the SDGs through SSE also will be announced during the sessions.   

Started in 2011, World forum of LED has been seeking ways of promoting international dialogue on sustainability and inclusive local development by establishing concrete partnerships at the both national and local levels. The 4th edition of World forum of LED is hosted by the capital of Cabo Verde, Praia, which is also member city of the GSEF.

Throughout the forum three thematic lines will be covered through various policy dialogues, interactive panel sessions and workshops.

  1. LED as a foundation for integrated and cohesive territories
  2. LED as a foundation for resilient and peaceful societies in fragile context
  3. LED as a foundation for sustainable and inclusive economics.
